The cold winter air whipped through the open window and into the room, sending a shiver up Sheila’s spine. Benjamin wrapped his arms around himself and tried to get comfortable on the stiff couch, but it was no use.

We were freezing.

Then we remembered the blankets provided by our Airbnb host. We grabbed them and headed back to the couch, wrapping ourselves up in their warmth.

Such was a typical experience when vacationing for our anniversary up in the Leavenworth, WA area.

Since then, we’ve made it a habit to always provide a couple of extra blankets for our guests, and found that they’re one of the most important things to have in a vacation rental. Not just for practicality and comfort, but for creating a relaxing atmosphere as well.

There are several different types of blankets that are ideal for short term rentals, depending on the type of accommodations you’re offering. These include fleece blankets, cashmere blankets, wool blankets, and silk blankets.

However, mentioned below are the blankets that are always a hit with our guests and help to aid in our overall marketing strategy:

Best Airbnb Blankets That Our Guests Rave About

Utopia is a brand that we’ve promoted on our site before. We love their towels and their blankets are awesome too! This blanket is:

  • Super warm and cozy
  • Reversible
  • And multipurpose

We originally used a bright red Utopia Sherpa fleece blanket as a way to make our living room pop with color. As it turned out, this super-soft blanket was perfect for cuddling up on the couch and watching movies, or curling up in bed to read a book.

And our guests absolutely loved it. The blanket was cozy and warm, and they often commented on how soft it felt against their skin.

However, pilling can be an issue with the underside of the blanket (it’s a formation of small balls of fiber that often happens with fabrics that are made from synthetic materials).

Even so, we’ve found that using a fabric shaver is easy enough to keep the blanket looking new and fresh.

Best Blanket For Hot Sleepers

If you’re a “hot sleeper” then PHF likely has a design (and solution) for you. Their blankets are weaved to allow plenty of breathability and are visually appealing to look at! This blanket:

  • Made of prewashed cotton
  • Resistant to pilling
  • And can be machine washed

Believe it or not, there is rarely ever a “one size fits all” when it comes to blankets. This is certainly true when it comes to hot sleepers, who need something that will keep them cool during the night without sacrificing any comfort.

For this, you want something that is soft, lightweight, and breathable. This will help keep you warm without getting too hot or making you sweat at night.

Benjamin “sleeps hot” and frequently finds himself tossing off the covers, trying to keep cool. So when we’re looking for a blanket that is perfect for him, we turn to the PHF Waffle Weave blanket.

Made from 100% cotton, this high-quality blanket has a soft, satin-like feel that keeps you cool, but never too cold. It’s also lightweight enough to be used in any season.

Plus, it has an awesome texture that looks great in photos, and it always looks and feels like new, no matter how many times we wash it.

Best Blanket For Cold Sleepers

Cold sleepers have plenty of options, from fleece and wool to cotton and polyester. This Vellux blanket, however, is a special insulating blanket that:

  • Made with an insulating foam base
  • Machine washable
  • Dry much more quickly than cotton

Sheila on the other hand “sleeps cold” and needs something more substantial to keep her warm. No matter what she does, she always seems to turn into a popsicle when she finally hits the sheets.

If this sounds like you, then you may want to opt for blankets that are made with thicker or heavier materials. This could include blankets made from fleece, wool, or even down.

For her, we always turn to the Vellux Insulating Hotel style blanket. This blanket is made from Faux Fur, Polyester, and Nylon that captures warmth without getting heavy or bulky. It’s also hypoallergenic, making it ideal for those with sensitivities to other materials.

However, it does smell pretty bad when it first arrives. So be sure to wash it and air it out for a few days to get rid of the odor.

One of the things we love about this blanket is that won’t pill easily, and it even seems to get softer after repeated washing!

What To Look For In A Good Airbnb Blanket

There are many different types of blankets that you can use for a short-term rental, but in our experience, there are a few qualities that really stand out.

The first is quality – your blankets should be made from high-quality materials like fleece or flannel to keep your guests warm and comfortable no matter the season.

Another important quality to look for is versatility. Your blankets should be suited for different temperatures and room conditions depending on your local climate, and should work well both with and without additional layers.

  1. Material: One of the most important things to consider when choosing blankets for your Airbnb is the material. Many people prefer fleece blankets, as they are soft, warm, and easy to care for without pilling. Other good options include down blankets, cotton blankets, or wool blankets.
  2. Size: Your blankets should be big enough for guests to wrap themselves up in comfortably while sitting on a couch or bed.
  3. Durability: When choosing blankets for your Airbnb, you also need to consider their durability. Expect your guests to use them outside or on the floor, so look for blankets that can stand up to a bit of wear and tear. After all, people will be using these blankets on a regular basis, so you want blankets that can stand up to frequent use. Look for blankets that are made from high-quality materials, are well-stitched, and have reinforced edges.
  4. Style: Finally, it’s important to consider the style of blankets you choose for your short-term rental. Many people opt for classic designs in neutral colors, as these will go with any décor and can be easily mixed and matched. However, you may also want to consider blankets with interesting patterns or designs that can help set the mood in your rental space.

That last tip, style, also plays a major role in how your short term rental will look in the photos, which can affect your overall marketing plan. This can either be an advantage or a disadvantage, so it’s up to you to decide how much emphasis you want to place on style.

Many hosts use bright colors and bold patterns to make their rental spaces pop and more appealing to guests.
